Adjunct Remote Instructor, Online Learning Department, Brigham Young University-Idaho, April 2020-PresentAfter a brief hiatus, I returned to work as adjunct for Brigham Young University-Idaho as an online adjunct instructor, this time teaching GS 105: Study and Lifeskills.

Instructor, Community Education, Utah Valley University, Summer 2019Taught two month-long courses for community members, titled "Creative Writing and Publishing" and "Murder Mystery Scenarios," respectively. Built the curriculum for these classes and collaborated with students on class projects.

Adjunct Remote Instructor, Online Learning Department, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Fall 2015 - Spring 2017Developed curriculum for a new course (ENG 107) in conjunct with a curriculum designer and on-campus instructor. Piloted the course. Taught sections of basic English, interviewing, and the rhetorical situation (FDENG 101). Attended and presented at the Online Learning and Development Conference.

Adjunct Faculty, Academic Support Department, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Spring 2013 - Spring 2015Instructed classes of 25+ students in basic writing techniques, including critical thinking, professionalism, the rhetorical situation, and formatting (MLA, APA). Developed original curriculum, i.e. a writing prompt journal, lesson outlines, structural analyses, capstone assignments, and grammar exercises and exams. Pioneered hybrid sections of Basic Writing (on campus/online).

Pathway Remote Instructor, Pathway Program, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Spring 2014Instructed 30+ students in basic writing techniques, including detail and description, clarity, organization, voice and tone, and other relevant topics. Created personalized screencasts and mini lectures using Jing and posted these videos for students. Evaluated critical thinking, personal, narrative, and other creative essays, and submitted evaluations via Ilearn. Participated BYU—Idaho’s Online Learning Conference and other professional development opportunities.

Instructed students for 60-minute periods on Textbook Strategy concepts, including time management, Bloom’s taxonomy, summary & paraphrase, vocabulary skills. Assisted disabled or otherwise challenged students during class hours. Prepared and delivered in-service trainings for Reading Center staff on professionalism, ESL instruction strategies, Reading Center policy, and tutoring session material. Supervised the Reading and ETC (40-60 students) for hour-long shifts several times a week. Fielded questions and concerns from students and tutors regarding schedule and procedure. Managed the Reading Center schedule, coordinating between 100+ tutors and students.

Led 45 minute lessons on character values at Calvin Smith Elementary for students in 2nd - 4th grades. Lesson topics included honor, perseverance, and respect, as well as peer pressure and personal hygiene.
